Helen Lingren Forsty, 98, of Fair Oaks, Calif., died on March 30, 2011. She was born Sept. 20, 1912, in North Dakota.
The John Jacob Lingren family then moved to Hood River, Ore., in 1913, where Helen grew up on the family apple farm. She married Richard Forsty in 1933 and moved to California in 1939. Helen lived in Sacramento County, Calif., since 1946.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, wed 62 years.
Helen is survived by her son, James (Marreth), and grandson Steven, of Carmichael, Calif.; granddaughter Joetta (Ken), great-grandson Sonny Knowles, of Reno, Nev., and relatives in Hood River.
Helen loved music, to garden and read. She was a 50-year member of the VASA order of America, a member of the Finlandia Club of Sacramento Valley and the Rocklin California Historical Society. She served as an interpreter for the Finnish National Team at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, Calif.
At her request, no services will be held. Private family burial will take place in Hood River.
