Fred Brumfield, of The Dalles, Ore., died March 5, 2011, at the age of 63. He was born Jan. 24, 1948, in Hood River, Ore., to Roz and Vada Brumfield.
Fred lived in Hood River until 1994, then moved to The Dalles. He married Vickie Menzie on May 2, 1940, and worked in Hood River as a mechanic for many years.
He enjoyed being with family, old cars and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters, one nephew and a grandson.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Vickie Brumfield, of The Dalles; daughters Gloria Kapp, of The Dalles, and Sheila Kellogg, of Bozeman, Mont.; sons Chris Brumfield, of The Dalles, and Michael Durham, of Portland; brothers-in-law Chuck Fryer, of Newberg, Jim Young, of The Dalles, and Randy Menzie, of The Dalles; sisters-in-law Mickie Fryer, of Newberg, and Janie Menzie, of The Dalles; sisters Judy (and Dave) Frimondt, of Kennewick, Wash., and Joyce (and Dick) Kobayashi, of Hood River; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren due in June, and many nieces and nephews.
Remembrances may be made to Victoria Brumfield, 2416 E. 10th St., The Dalles, OR 97058. No services will be held at the request of Fred. A gathering for friends and family will be held at The Dalles Senior Center March 12 from 1-3 p.m.
