Martha Ann "Sue" Weber passed away at her Odell, Ore., home surrounded by family on May 17, 2011.
She was born Sept. 25, 1920, and was 90 years of age.
Sue was born in Hood River to Harry and Palma (Hagen) Jarvis and spent her entire life in the Hood River Valley. She graduated in 1938 from Odell High School and in 1942 from St. Joseph's School of Nursing.
On Sept. 29, 1946, she married John Weber at the Odell Methodist Church.
Sue worked for Dr. Thompson for 40 years and also beside her husband at the Weber Home Center in Odell.
Sue was very active in the Odell Methodist Church, serving in numerous capacities. She loved to sew and garden but especially enjoyed her trips to Hawaii.
After retirement she volunteered for the hospital in the blood pressure clinic for more than 15 years, the Hood River County Museum as a greeter for more than 10 years, the Historical Society and a volunteer for the Roy Webster Cross Channel Swim.
She was also a member of the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Oregon State Nurses Association for more than 50 years.
Sue is survived by her sister, Josephine Anderson, of Currituck, N.C.; brother, Dick Jarvis, of Gresham, Ore.; and nephews, Jack Davis and Phil Davis, both of Odell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Marjorie Davis and brother, Harry Jarvis Jr.
A service to celebrate Sue's life is planned for 11 a.m. May 23, 2011, at Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; 541-386-1000. Pastor Christy Matson of the Odell Methodist Church will officiate. Graveside rites will follow at Idlewilde Cemetery.
