James “Jim” Harold Wishart U.S. Veteran

August 23, 1928 - May 20, 2011

James "Jim" Harold Wishart passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011, in Hood River, Ore., surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Klickitat, Wash., to Frank U. Wishart and Mary Jane Bostick Wishart.

Jim lived in small sawmill towns and he had many memories of living in Dee, Ore. He loved to fish and hunt in his younger years. He graduated from Hood River High School in 1947. He really enjoyed playing football.

After business school in Portland, he began his banking career with the Hood River First National Bank. He was on the first draft call for the Korean War. The Army sent him to the front lines in Korea. He served as sergeant from Nov. 8, 1950, to Oct. 28, 1952.

After resuming his banking career, he married Camilla Flesher in Hood River, Ore. They were married for 57 years and had four children.

Jim worked in Union, Heppner, Prairie City and Arlington, Ore. After working 25 years for First Interstate he went to work for The Bank of Eastern Oregon for 18 years. Jim made many friends and was very active in the communities where they lived. In 2005, they moved back to Hood River.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harry and his nephew, Kyle Linn.

He is survived by his wife, Camilla; children Sally Brown, of Paisley, Fla., Susie Combs, of Prairie City, Ore., Jim Wishart, of Boardman, Ore., and John Wishart, of Hood River; six grandchildren and almost eight great-grandchildren. His nieces and nephew are a big part of the family.

There will be no funeral or memorial service. A private gathering, along with the scattering of Jim's ashes, will be held at a later date.

Jim loved to pass out chocolate to many people, so in memory of him please smile and eat chocolate. Donations may be made in memory of Jim to a charity of your choice.
