Donna Brantley, 74, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011.
She passed away at her home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Anderson's Tribute Center. Funeral service will be 10 a.m.Thursday, Oct. 13, at The River of Life Church (979 Tucker Road, Hood River), with interment to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. There will be a reception after the graveside service at River of Life Church.
Donna was born Nov. 28, 1936, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Glenn and Ella Faulks. She grew up on a farm in Homedale, Idaho, and enjoyed working in 4-H and playing the violin.
She graduated from Homedale High School in 1955. She then attended and graduated from The College of Idaho in 1963. She taught elementary school for 30 years; three in Jordan Valley, Ore., and 27 years in Hood River.
Donna met and married Merle (Bob) Brantley of Hood River and they spent almost 40 years together until he passed away in 2002. They had two children, Michael and Stephanie.
They enjoyed making several trips around the country, and especially enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. Donna also spent many years working in the Sunday school at the Assembly of God Church (now River of Life Church).
Donna is survived by her son, Michael, and his wife, Erin, of Beaverton, Ore.; daughter Stephanie and her husband, Troy Bausch, of Washougal, Wash.; brother Fred and his wife Lila, of Parma, Idaho; and brother-in-law Don McKinney of Caldwell, Idaho.
She is also survived by grandchildren Leanne, Christopher, Allison and Julia Brantley, and Charissa, Mikylah and Ethan Bausch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; two sisters, Miriam McKinney and Mary Lou Faulks; and a brother, Ronald (Ronnie).
The family suggests memorials be made to The River of Life Building Fund, 979 Tucker Road or Horizon Christian School, 700 Pacific Ave., or also Heart of Hospice, 205 Wasco Loop, Suite 202.
