Joyce Cannon passed away in her home, surrounded by her family, on Oct. 23, 2011, in Hood River, Ore. She was born to George and Lura Godfrey in Concrete, Wash., in 1937.
Joyce graduated from Kelso Washington High School in 1955. After school she spent time between Woodland, Wash., and Eureka, Calif.
In 1959 Joyce came to the Hood River Valley where her mother, Lura Merz, lived. She met Westlake "Bill" Cannon in the spring of 1959.
Joyce and Bill Cannon were married in December 1959 and enjoyed 52 years together.
Joyce loved sewing, cooking and camping. She took pride in her home and caring for her family. She also loved sharing and encouraging other to know what God's Kingdom really is!
Joyce is survived by her husband, Bill, and their three children, Tamra Krall, Renae Smith and Forest Cannon; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, JoAnne Bader; half-sister Rosanne Cyrus; and her half-brothers Ron Merz and Steven Merz.
Joyce was loved by all and an honorary mother to many. She will be missed.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1619 Tucker Road, Hood River, on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m.
