On Jan. 25, 2012, Melissa Sue Sanchez completed her life journey, and was lovingly brought home to God at the young age of 54. She died surrounded by loved ones at a local care facility.
Melissa was the oldest of four children born to Stan and Leda Prinzing. She was born in Hood River, and spent most of her childhood and adult life in the Columbia River Gorge area.
She worked as a head cook for OCDC, until her illness progressed. She then spent her precious little time with family and friends, courageously, gracefully fighting for those moments. Her life work was her family, her friends, and her church.
Melissa was one of those rare lights in the world; she was always drawing people everywhere she went. She lit up the room with her laughter, her easy conversation and her love.
She leaves behind five loving grandchildren: Annabelle Parks, Nathaniel Parks, Alexander Parks, Lillianne Parks and Mary Parks.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Hiedi Marie Parks, her brother Scott Prinzing and her father Stan Prinzing.
Private cremation was provided by Spencer Libby and Powell. Her memorial service will be at her home church, Life in Christ Center, on Feb. 4 at 11 a.m., with a potluck to follow.
