William L. (Larry Bill) Gramse, 77, passed away at the hospital in Woodburn, Ore., on Jan. 30, 2012. Bill was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Hood River, Ore., to Ernest L. “Larry” Gramse and Leta Bowerman, who were pioneers in the Hood River Valley.
Bill graduated from Hood River High School in 1952. He graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree in forestry. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea.
When he returned he went to work for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration until he retired.
Bill married Donna Inch on Aug. 20, 1969. They had two daughters, Sarita Carrino, who lives in Springfield, Ore., and Holly Gramse, of Lake Stevens, Wash.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters Holly and Sarita; his sister, Jean Gramse Gowing, of Vancouver; her daughter, Lori Buerkle, and family; and her two sons, Greg Gowing and family and Jim Gowing and family, all of Vancouver, Wash. He is also survived by cousin Mildred Goe from Odell, Ore.
