Caroline (Cary) Wehrman Reed passed away peacefully on May 18, 2012, in Hood River, Ore. She was born in Worden, Ill., on Oct. 27, 1924, to Henry and Augusta (Wiesemann) Kroeger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Edward, Victor and Clarence; and husbands Joseph Wehrman Jr. and Edwin Reed.
She is survived by sons Joseph, of Anchorage, Alaska, John (Debbie), of Holbrook, Ariz., Jim (Rosa), of Chandler, Ariz., and Jeff (Cyndi), of Beaverton, Ore.; daughter Susie (Kirk), of Hood River; nine grandchildren, including three from Hood River: Amity Craig (Kevin), Hanni Wehrman (John Church) and Erin Kirchem (Andy); and 10 great-grandchildren.
Cary had lived in Illinois, Missouri, Arizona and California and finally settled in Oregon in 1973. She had worked in an elementary school cafeteria in Tempe, Ariz., and at Tektronix in Beaverton. Her best job was raising her family of five children!
Her home in Beaverton was her pride and joy. She loved working in her garden, attending church, quilting with friends, traveling and doing any and all chores around the house and being around other people. Those who knew her will miss her gentle disposition, friendly attitude and warm smile.
Inurnment was at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, where her ashes were placed next to her first husband’s. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23, at Murray Hills Christian Church, 15050 S.W. Weir Road, Beaverton, Ore., at 1:30 p.m. (503- 524-5230).
