Our beloved mother, Dorothy E. Glover, peacefully passed away on March 2, 2012, at the age of 88. She was born May 12, 1923, in Grants Pass, Ore., to Howard and Florence (Whipple) Hilkey.
The family moved to Hood River, Ore., in 1936. She put herself through high school from the age of 14 by doing yard and house work. She graduated from Hood River High School in 1943.
She married Max L. Glover at Stevenson, Wash., on July 12, 1959. She worked beside her husband throughout their years together in various capacities. She loved to camp, hunt, fish and dance.
She is survived by her two daughters: Lynda Byers and her husband, Dale, and Sue Ybarra and her husband, Danny; three grandchildren: Jamie Byers, Danny Ybarra Jr. and his wife, Mary, and Kristy Ybarra-Robinson and her husband, Darren; 10 great-grandchildren: Alex, Anyisa, Avaree, Deacon, Bella, Braylon, Brittany, Ashley, Emily and Ahleeah; brother, Bob Hilkey and sister, Lillian Buce.
Dorothy's family encourages memorials be made in her name to the Pine Grove Fire Department.
A service to honor, celebrate and mourn is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Anderson's Tribute Center. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Butte Cemetery.
