Mercedes Lopez passed away March 1, 2012, surrounded by her family at her home in Parkdale, Ore. Mercedes was born in Colima, Mexico, to Martin LLerenas and Aleja Castro on Nov. 14, 1923. Mercedes was an amazing cook and she also enjoyed sewing.
Mercedes married Melecio Lopez on April 20, 1942, and was a dedicated housewife and a very loving mother to Tomasa Lopez, Cristina Lopez, Mauricia Lopez, Ines Lopez, Juan Jose Lopez, Josefina L. Romero, Constantino Lopez, Felix Lopez, Eufracio Lopez, Eutropia L. Cervantes, Maria L. Morales, Armando Cruz and Julio Lopez.
Mercedes had 79 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
A viewing and rosary were held March 6. Mercedes' funeral Mass will be held March 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hood River, with a graveside service following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A reception to celebrate Mercedes' life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 2 p.m. after her graveside service.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hood River.
