Delores “Bubbles” Faith Hausinger
May 24, 1921 - May 22, 2012
Dolores Faith “Bubbles” Hausinger, of Vancouver, Wash., passed away May 22, 2012, in Vancouver. She was born May 24, 1921, in Ely, Minn. She was raised by her grandmother, Adelaide Fredrick.
Bubbles weighed 1 pound, 7 ounces when she was born. The doctor said, “The only thing that will keep that baby alive is faith.” Her grandmother took her home, placed her in a chest of drawers and placed it by the old wood stove and she survived!
The nuns at her grade school in Portland, Ore., recognized she was very gifted musically. It was Depression time in our country and her grandmother could not afford to give her piano lesson so in exchange for the lessons, she baked and cooked weekly for the sisters.
Bubbles shared her musical talent throughout her life. She graduated from Hood River High School in 1939 and met her husband, Alvin, and they were married in Los Angeles, Calif., in April of 1942.
She had three children, Irene, Ralph and Leonard, as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind her daughter, Irene Melton, and her son, Leonard Hausinger.
Her husband, Alvin, preceded her in death as well as her son Ralph, her grandson David Melton and son-in-law Michael Melton.
Bubbles will be deeply missed. Her cheerful positive attitude was amazing. She was such a character and so much fun to be around and we knew she loved us unconditionally. She was a master joke-teller and would have made a wonderful actress!
She valued education and taught us to be kind and considerate of others. She would always say, “Don’t be so quick to judge; for you do not know what that person’s life is like.”
She also taught us the beauty of diversity among people and shared all the wonderful things we could learn by embracing our difference.
Bubbles was a miracle! She lived her faith daily and we are sure she was greeted in Heaven with the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. Welcome home.” With love, Mother, until we meet again ...
Survivors include her daughter, Irene Melton, of Vancouver, Wash.; son Leonard Hausinger; grandchildren Kenny, Thomas, Karyn and Heidi; and great-grandchildren Natalie, Danielle, Kenny, Christian, Cameron and Blake.
The family suggests that remembrances be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Children’s Fund.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hood River, Ore., beginning at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception of remembrance in the Parish Hall.
