Estella May Jordan, 88, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, went to be with her Lord on Sept. 3, 2012.
The fifth child born to Ollie Francis Thompson and Mary Edith (Martin) Thompson, she was born on July 4, 1924, in Yukon, Okla. She was raised in Piedmont, Okla., and had a cat that she named Sticktight, because it did.
Estella married Melvine Eugene Jordan on March 2, 1943. After the war, they settled in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Long Beach, Calif., in 1952. While raising her five children, she was active in scouting, PTA and her church, and enjoyed bowling with friends.
In 1984, she and Melvine moved to a 24-acre farm in Parkdale, Ore., where she was active in gardening and her church. In 1999, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she continued to be active with gardening, sewing, quilting, her church, and as a volunteer at the hospice thrift store.
Estella is survived by two daughters, three sons, two brothers, two sisters, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The daughters are Karen Arrasmith, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Rose Mary Gray, of Cerritos, Calif.; the sons are Larry Jordan of Paso Robles, Calif., Robert Jordan, of Atascadero, Calif., and Daniel Jordan, of Woodinville, Wash.; the sisters are Helen Basey, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jane Patterson, of Edmond, Okla.; the brothers are Robert Thompson, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Glenn Thompson, of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was the center of her life. The love, kindness, generosity and care that she shared with all those she touched will live as a beautiful example of Christ’s love on Earth forever. We will miss her dearly but remember her always.
Estella will be laid to rest at the Upper Valley Parkdale Cemetery, 6917 Allen Road, Parkdale, next to her husband, Melvine, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Pastor Don Gibbs will officiate.
A reception will follow her graveside service at the Parkdale Community Church, 4910 Baseline Drive.
