Dayne Wallace Caldwell, 86, a resident of Hood River, Ore., died on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012. He was born in Muskogee, Okla., on April 25, 1926, the second of 12 children to Jess W. and Cora M. (Gilliland) Caldwell. He grew up in Okay, Okla., moving to Oregon in 1948.
Dayne served in the U.S. Navy during World War II receiving an honorable discharge, Victory Medal and Purple Heart.
He was manager of Hood River Elks Lodge from 1955-1991.
Dayne is survived by his daughters, Penny E. Anderson, of Oregon City, and Jill M. Cannon, of Hood River; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters Betty Bennett, Joyce Martin, Martha Durham and Linda Rozman; and brothers Bobby Caldwell, Joel Caldwell and Billy Caldwell.
He was preceded in death by daughters Sherry Lee Rauschuber and Tracy Ann Crider.
Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 2-5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, on Third and Cascade in Hood River.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
