Maria Guadalupe-Marquez, 48, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center surrounded by those she loved, due to complications of previous medical conditions. Maria was born Dec. 9, 1965, in Huautla, Morelos, Mexico, to Ramon and Paula Figueroa.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1501 Belmont Ave., Hood River. A time for visitation will be held at Anderson’s Tribute Center Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 4-8 p.m.
Maria enjoyed reading in her free time and going on walks; her most precious time, however, was spent with her family. The family describes Maria as faithful in her religion, loving, kind and giving.
Maria and Jose Luis married in 1992 here in Hood River. She worked as a fruit packer at a packing house prior to her illness.
Maria is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 22 years, Jose Luis; daughter, Thalia; son, Jose Luis Jr.; along with many other family members and friends.
Remembrances are encouraged to be made in to the American Cancer Society.
