On Feb. 20, 2013, John Vincent Schmerber, 70, passed away at his home in White Salmon, Wash., with his loving family by his side. He was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Salem, Ore., to Josephine Emma (Hoag) and Louis Karl Schmerber.
On March 25, 2000, John married Kathryn “Kay” Kent. They lived in the Snowden area of White Salmon, where John was a self-employed farmer, growing cherries and garlic. John loved being a farmer and he liked to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; his children, Amy Paulette Schmerber, of Bothel, Wash., and John Christian Schmerber, of Kennewick, Wash.; stepson Matthew Thomas Briggs and his wife, Joanna Amparo Giuttari, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three brothers, three sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Gardner Funeral Home, 1270 N. Main in White Salmon, Wash., handled cremation arrangements.
