Juanita Mae Pagan passed away at her home in The Dalles, Ore., on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the age of 60. She was born in Boulder City, Nev., to Margaret (Dorsch) and Osward Donald Pagan Sr. on Sept. 17, 1952.
As a youngster, Juanita traveled with her family until they settled in California. She graduated from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, Calif., then attended college and earned her bachelor’s degree. She worked at the Rohr airplane factory in San Diego, Calif.
In 1977 Juanita moved to Parkdale, Ore., where she enjoyed horseback riding in the valley. She moved to Hood River, Ore., in 1978 and worked for Luhr Jensen, working her way up to supervisor; she worked there for 25 years.
Juanita loved playing softball and decorating for the holidays. She also enjoyed growing orchids and roses. She was a hard worker, a go-getter and treated her pets like her babies.
Juanita will be missed by her siblings, Wanda Tally, of Thousand Palms, Calif., Pat Canup, of Davis, Okla., Donna Warren, of Eagle Creek, Ore., Peggy Mohr, of Livermore, Calif., Jim Pagan, of The Dalles, Ore., and Osward Donald Pagan Jr., of Beaverton, Ore. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, corner of Snipes and West 10th streets in The Dalles. Gardner Funeral Home handled cremation arrangements.
