Curtis Lee Campbell, 80, passed away June 18, 2013, at his home in Hood River, Ore. Curtis was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Westover, Texas, to Mathew and Martha (Dormier) Campbell.
He married JoAnne Elizabeth Barns on Dec. 21, 1955, in Corpus Christi, Texas. They moved to Hood River in the mid 1960s and operated a small strawberry farm. JoAnne passed away Dec. 21, 1992.
Curtis had a love of the land and enjoyed gardening and working outside. He also enjoyed watching animals and wildlife, fishing, and working on vehicles in his spare time. He really enjoyed being with family, friends and his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Curtis’ life will be held at Anderson’s Tribute Center on Wednesday, June 26, at 2 p.m.
Curtis is survived and will be dearly missed by his children, Marty McKinnis, of The Dalles, Ore., Jerry Campbell, of Hood River, Richard (Star) Campbell, of Cascade Locks, Ore., Curtis Campbell Jr., of Willis, Texas, and Janice (Don) Hausinger, of Hood River; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Mabel Campbell and Francis Campbell, and other distant family.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his 12 brothers, one sister and one grandson.
Memorials are encouraged to be made in Curtis’ name at the U.S. Bank.
