Our treasured husband, son, brother, in-law, uncle and friend exited this adventure of life on March 22, 2013, due to complications of melanoma.
Carl will be remembered by those who love him for his zest for life, creativity, enthusiasm, inspirational attitude, architectural talent, love for travel and, of course, his “meetings.”
Carl had a passion for life and embraced every opportunity to live it as fully as possible. As an avid traveler, Carl’s adventurous spirit led him on many journeys around the world, which he shared through his photo essays.
His most recent passport was completely full with stamps from many of the 50-plus countries he visited over his lifetime. The last six weeks of his life were spent exploring Thailand, Kathmandu, Angkor Wat and Myanmar with his wife, Jan.
Carl was an immensely talented architect, gifted at integrating light and nature into his designs. As one client and friend so aptly described his home that Carl designed, “My house looks like it grew out of the landscape.” Carl’s architectural talent will continue to be enjoyed by everyone who sees his numerous buildings and homes around Hood River and the Gorge.
Carl led by example; the positive attitude he maintained in the face of adversity inspired us all. We are filled with gratitude for the example he set by reflecting frequently on his priorities and using them as the compass by which he lived each day. His clarity and intention was one of his many gifts to us.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 13, at 5 p.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center, 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; 541-386-1000.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Providence Portland Medical Foundation, Attn: Guest Housing Fund, 4805 N.E. Glisan St., Portland, OR 97213, or the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, Hood River, OR 97031. Please enclose a note that your gift is in memory of Carl Perron.
