Lorie Biornstad passed away at 79 years of age Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Canyon Rim Manor in Maupin, Ore. Lorie was born Jan. 30, 1934, in Portland, Ore., to Clara A. and Ed Punzel.
Lorie grew up and received her education certificate in Portland. After general education she worked as a kindergarten teacher at Powelhurst and Damascus and was a homemaker.
On Feb. 3, 1951, Lorie married John Biornstad in Portland at her parents’ home. John describes his wife as very loving and devoted to him, their four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also very outgoing, generous and loved to keep people happy.
Lorie enjoyed spending time with her family, playing piano, gardening, teaching the Bible to women, camping and hunting, and loved to burn brush.
Lorie is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 65 years, John; son John, of Big Lake, Alaska, daughter Sharon Carnahan, of Corvallis, Ore., son Steven, of Corvallis, and daughter Susan Althens, of Alaska; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family ceremony and memorial service will be held at a later date, tentatively Feb. 1, at the Nazarene Church in Hood River.
