Linda Mae Lester (Hatch), 57, passed away Oct. 13, 2013, at her home in The Dalles, Ore. She was born Feb. 27, 1956, in Redmond, Ore., to Leo G. Hatch and Jenni E. Hatch (Kampfer).
Linda grew up on a ranch in Gateway, Ore. She graduated from Hood River Valley High School in 1974. She went on to attend beauty school and become a hairdresser.
Later in life she ran a child day care center in her home.
She lived in Sherwood, Ore., until 2006, when she moved to The Dalles.
Linda enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses. She made floral arrangements every Sunday for the Sherwood LDS church, often using roses and flowers from her own garden.
She was very artistic, and loved rock hounding and horseback riding on the ranch where she grew up.
The love of her life and husband of five years, Jesse Lester, passed away in 1979 in a truck accident. She never remarried, loving only him the rest of her life.
Linda is survived by her son, Michael R. Hatch; sisters Jennie Ward and her husband Bill, of Madras Ore., Judy Mason and her husband, George, of Gresham, Ore., and Jane Simpkins and her husband, Mike, of Parkdale, Ore.; and brother Terry Hatch and his wife, Ella, of Redmond; and 20 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters Sharon Densley and Judy Marie Cooper, and brother Charles Hatch.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at the LDS church, 1815 E. 15th, The Dalles. Dedication of the grave will be at 1 p.m. at the Parkdale Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the LDS Church in The Dalles.
