James Richard Bowers, 87, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, with his wife, Phyllis, by his side at the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles, Ore. Jim was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Los Angeles, Calif., the only child to Samuel and Irene (Bendasher) Bowers.

Jim grew up in Southern California, graduating from Pasadena High School, then continued his education at Pasadena City College. He worked for a commercial lumber company as an accountant throughout his career life in Southern California; later moving to Hood River, Ore., to be close to his children.
On Aug. 2, 1969, Jim married Phyllis Katherine Williams in West Covina, Calif.
Jim was an avid golfer for many years; he also enjoyed baseball and traveling with Phyllis.
Jim is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis Bowers; four children, two stepchildren, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
