David Lee Campbell, 70, passed away Aug. 6, 2014, at his home in Sandy, Ore., surrounded by family.
Services with military honors were held Aug. 8 at the Pine Grove Butte Cemetery in Hood River, Ore.
David was born April 6, 1944, in Salem, Ore., to Carl and Aili (Kotila) Campbell. He moved with his family to the Hood River Valley and graduated from Wy’east High School in 1963.
On June 12, 1971, David married Patricia Bowlin at the Hood River Valley Christian Church. They were blessed with two children: Christopher and Katie. The family lived in Hood River, Cascade Locks and most recently, Sandy.
David worked for Braton Lumber, Grey Logging and the Oregon Department of Transportation. He enjoyed sports (participating and watching), hunting, fishing, gardening, carpentry and golf, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served his country proudly in the Oregon National Guard for 20 years.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Campbell, of Sandy, Ore.; sons Christopher Campbell, of Sandy, and Michael Campbell, of Tasmania, Australia; daughters Katie Kinder of Clackamas, Ore., and Shellie Belifioria, of Detroit, Mich.; 20 grandchildren; and a host of other family and many, many friends that he has collected over the years.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Pettit.
