Catherine (Cathy) Silagi Moon, 55, passed away in her home in Madras, Ore., on Dec. 23, 2013. She was born Feb. 19, 1958, to Joe and Hilda Silagi, of Hood River, Ore. Cathy attended Mid Valley Grade School and graduated from Hood River Valley High School in 1976.
As a teenager, Cathy held jobs in the agricultural fields of Hood River County.
In 1978 she married Dean Hardman and they made their home in Hood River. Together they had two children, Megan (Stone) and JD (Hardman). Cathy worked for the Department of Human Services of Oregon in Hood River for 25 years.
After she and Dean divorced, Cathy met and married Chuck Moon, of Madras, Ore. Cathy and Chuck had one daughter, Elizabeth.
The Moons moved to Lincoln City in 2003, where they lived for seven years. In 2010 they moved to Madras.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Hilda Silagi, and her husband, Chuck Moon. She is survived by her children, Megan Stone (Mike), JD Hardman and Elizabeth Moon; her grandchildren, Alison and William Laiblin and Delilah Stone; and her siblings Penny Zega (Ron), John Silagi (Jan) and Sallyann Schultz (Bob). Three nephews, Robert Schultz IV, Jonathan Schultz and Kevin Silagi, also survive.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Pine Grove Methodist Church, 2415 Eastside Road, Hood River, OR 97031, with a reception to follow. Cathy will be interred with her parents at the Pine Grove Butte Cemetery.
