Daniel Paul Biondo

Daniel Paul Biondo, 86, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, surrounded by those he loved in his home in Hood River, Ore. Daniel was born May 30, 1927, in Kearny, N.J., to John and Mary Biondo.
Catholic Mass is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1501 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031, with graveside service to follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Daniel grew up in Kearny, N.J., where he enjoyed playing with his six brothers and sisters. He graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering.
He worked as a civil engineer at Foster Wheeler Corporation in Livingston, N.J., where he designed power plants throughout the Northeast. Later he served as municipal engineer for the towns of Parsippany, Dover and Madison, N.J.
On Sept. 22, 1956, he married Dolores Marie Bracco in New York City.
Daniel enjoyed being with his family, listening to classical music, painting, traveling — especially to the New Jersey beaches — and was an avid reader.
Daniel is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Dolores Marie Bracco Biondo, of Hood River; his children: daughter Jean Biondo Sheppard and her husband, Craig, of Hood River, son David J. Biondo, of Colorado, and daughter Janice Biondo and her husband, Robert Zaring, of New Mexico; his sister, Dorothy Meissner, of New Jersey; and three grandchildren: Christopher, Drew and Michael LaMaita of Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, David and John Biondo and sisters Jennie Lacki and Mary Kopera.
Memorials are encouraged to be made in Daniel’s name to Heart of Hospice Foundation.
