Shirley Hutton, 84, passed away Oct. 31, 2014, at her home in Cascade Locks, Ore., surrounded by those who loved her. Shirley was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Greenwich, N.Y., to John and Hazel (Lewis) Monroe. Shirley proudly served our country in the Army in the early 1950s. On July 1, 1966, Shirley married Earl H. Hutton in Las Vegas, Nev.
Throughout the years, Shirley has resided in Greenwich, N.Y., Glendale, Ariz., and Cascade Locks, Ore. For 27 years, Shirley worked as a fruit sorter at the Duckwall-Pooley Fruit Company in Hood River, Ore. In her leisure time, she enjoyed doing counted cross-stitch, crocheting, bingo and going to the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Ore.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Earl Hutton, of Cascade Locks; sons Ed Hutton, of Cocolalla, Idaho, and Robert Hutton, of Cascade Locks; daughters Debbie Brooks and Linda Slocumb, both of Glendale, Ariz., and Becky Hutton, of Carson, Wash.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Eugene Monroe and Austin Monroe; and her sister Carol Bovie.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will take place at a later date.
