Terrance (Terry) Smith passed away March 9, 2015, at his home in Mount Hood/Parkdale, Ore.
Terry was born March 14, 1951, in Bend, Ore., to parents Robert and Donna (Hoskinson) Smith. He grew up, along with his siblings Toni, Ken and Kelly, in Prineville, Ore. Terry, Ken and Kelly were all on the high school wrestling team.
After graduating from Crook County High School in 1969, Terry attended Central Oregon Community College in Bend for a year and then served two years in the Army. After being discharged, he attended Oregon State University and graduated in 1977, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business with a concentration in accounting. In 1981 he passed the certified public accounting exam and received his license. He worked as an accountant in Tillamook and Beaverton, Ore., before moving to Hood River where he became a partner in Arens, Henry, Grisanti and Smith (Arens and Associates, currently).
Terry enjoyed camping, cooking, reading, carpentry, family activities and working with clients in his accounting practice.
Terry is preceded in death by his mother, Donna, who died in June 1996. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Katherine Hannen, sons Justin and Caleb, all of Parkdale, and daughter Terra, of New York, N.Y.
A memorial will be held Saturday, June 27, in Hood River (time and location will be announced at a later date). The following day Terry’s ashes will be scattered east of Prineville near Paulina, Ore.
Terry was a lover of animals and memorial donations may be made to the Hukari Animal Shelter in Odell, Ore.; the Oregon Humane Society and also to Heart of Hospice, who provided excellent care for Terry the last two weeks of his life.
