Carolyn Jean Dexter, 71, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, 2015, at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Ore. She was born in Little Rock, Ark., on March 5, 1944, to Wilson Bryan Graham and Julia Graham. She was married to Darrell Dexter on June 25, 1968, until he passed Oct. 1, 1989.
Carolyn worked several years as a seamstress at Jantzen and also enjoyed her job baking pies for Shari’s restaurant in Hood River, Ore. She had a lifelong love of Jesus and attended Tucker Road Baptist Church for many years. She loved her grandkids with all her heart. She was known as "Mom" to most of the West Side Fire Department and all of the high school kids who knew her throughout the years. She enjoyed keeping in touch with friends and family on Facebook. She really loved cooking, baking and feeding anyone who came through her door.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Bucio, and son-in-law Russell Bucio, of The Dalles, Ore., and their children Jameson Dexter, Jordan Dexter, Jada Dexter, Julian Dexter, and Nathan Bucio; her son Douglas Dexter and daughter-in-law Paula Dexter, of Washougal, Wash., and their children Emma Dexter, Parker Dexter, Darrah Dexter, and Orrin Dexter; and her son David Dexter, of Hood River, and his daughter, Mikayla Mickissen.
There will be a private graveside service, for immediate family only at Mountain View Cemetery at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, followed by a memorial potluck for her many friends and relatives at 4250 Barrett Drive, Hood River, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would be grateful for help with her burial costs via donations at http://bit.ly/1ORWZcT
