Sandra Lee Connelly passed away Aug. 19, 2016, in Hood River, Ore. She was born Nov. 27, 1946, and was 69 at the time of her passing.
Sandra was born in Hastings, Neb., to Theodore C. and Mabel (Holmberg) Ricketts. She moved with her family to The Dalles, Ore., and graduated from Watonka High School, class of 1965. On Sept. 22, 1965, she married Michael Connelly in The Dalles and had two children, Kathryn “Shawn” Marie and Christopher Michael. The family lived in The Dalles with a brief stint in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1984, and then to Hood River in 1987, where she has resided since. Michael passed away on Sept. 9, 2012.
She loved her family and opportunities to be with them. Sandra also enjoyed making beaded jewelry, fishing, gardening, shopping on QVC, and traveling.
Sandra was an active homemaker, mother and grandmother, but she also worked as a secretary for the The Dalles Police Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Portland.
Sandra is survived by daughter Shawn Marie Conner and husband, Richard, of The Dalles; son Chris Connelly and wife, Lori, of Sweet Home, Ore.; grandchildren Jason, Johnathan, Michael, Brenna, Liam and Ciaran; great granddaughter Lily Ann; brother Gary R. Ricketts of Naperville, Ill.; two sisters, Shirley Hovda of The Dalles, and Linda M. Jones of Durango, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends she has collected over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers (Theodore and David) and sister (Cynthia).
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River.
