Helen Myrtle Crowley passed away at 95 years of age on March 1, 2016, at Brookside Manor in Hood River, Ore. She was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Alsea, Ore., to Emily May Van Horn and Ansel Edgar Van Horn and lived all her life in Oregon.
Helen married John Marion Crowley on May 27, 1939, in Corvallis. Helen taught in elementary schools in Corvallis, Yachats, and Waldport, and resided after retirement in Brownsville and Lebanon. After her husband passed away, she moved to Hood River in 2003.
Survivors include her daughters Lora Anne Davies (James) of Elkins Park Pa., and Susan Janis Moore (Patrick) of Hood River, sister Nellie Stratton (Edward) of Philomath, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, siblings Marvin, Henry, Elnora, Dorcus, and Jeanette, and grandson James K. Davies. At her request, no service is planned. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Butte Cemetery in Hood River. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 1630 Woods Court, Hood River OR 97031 or to a charity of your choice.
