Barbara Jean (Mockley) Willie, a former resident of Mt. Hood, Ore., passed away March 14, 2016, in The Dalles, Ore., with her daughter by her side. Barbara and her twin sister Beverly were born Sept. 3, 1931, at home, in Hillsboro, Ore., weighing only 2 pounds each. She attended Hillsboro High School. Upon graduation, she began working at the Birds Eye Cannery.
Barbara married Wayne Hughes in 1958 and had five children: Billy, Ann-Mare, Larry Dean, Mary and Joey. The couple divorced in the late 1950s.
She was remarried on Nov. 16, 1963, to James “Jim” Willie and moved to Portland, Ore. There they started their family having Steven, Linda and Maria. In 1971, the family moved to Mt. Hood, and their youngest son Marty was born. They lived in Mt. Hood until 1997, when they moved to The Dalles.
Barbara was 84 at the time of her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, who passed away in 2003, her twin sister Beverly June Fiocchi, and parents Marie M. Mockley and Martin N. Mockley. She is survived by a brother, Jim Mockley, children Ann-Marie Hughes and husband Dave of Clatskanie, Ore., Mary Austin and husband Paul of Bellevue, Wash., Joey Hughes of Clackamas, Ore., Steven Carlson and wife Roberta of Salem, Ore., Linda Lee of Hood River, Maria Bailey and husband Randy of Mt. Hood, Marty Willie and wife Jennifer of Wasco, Ore., and grandchildren Max, Mitchell, Charles, Anthony, Rhianna, Tiffany, Brendon, Cheyenne, Andrew, Zoie, Chloe and Gage.
A visitation/viewing and service for Barbara will be held Friday March 18, 2016, at Anderson's Tribute Center. Visitation/viewing will be from 9-10:30 a.m. and a service will be held at 11 a.m.
Interment Services are planned for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22 at Willamette National Cemetery of Portland, Ore., where Barbara will be laid to rest with her husband, James "Jim" Willie.
