Sharon Lee Klaviter was born September 20, 1936, in Fulda, Minn., to Clarence and Lorraine (Schelenberg) Uttech, and passed away March 16, 2016, at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Ore. She was 79 years old.
Sharon graduated from Madelia High School, class of 1953. That same year, she married Herbert R. Klaviter on November 27 in Madelia.
Sharon operated a daycare in her home for 20-plus years and then went on to fall in love with diamonds and gems. She worked in the jewelry industry, as a manager of Weisfield’s, in the 1970s in Bend, Ore., until she was transferred to The Dalles’ Weisfield’s, where she became a certified gemologist. In her 25 years as the manager in The Dalles, she received countless awards and recognition for her work in sales and service. She retired in 2002.
Sharon loved spending time with her first, last and forever love, Herbie. Sharon’s children and grandchildren were another place where she knew no limits of love. She loved her puppy Angel. Sharon was an excellent artist, cook and seamstress, and was always quick with her wit, a wink and a smile. She is loved as much as she loved, and will be missed.
Sharon is survived by her siblings, Richard Uttech and family, Prairie Du Sac, Wis., and John Uttech and family, Mankato, her children Kevin and Patti Klaviter, Boardman, Ore., Todd and Debi Klaviter, The Dalles, and Steve and Connie Klaviter, The Dalles.
