Anna Bell Olson, of Hood River, Ore., passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 21, 2016, at Hawks Ridge assisted living facility, where she received excellent loving care from all of her caregivers.
Anna was born on April 30, 1942, in Cascade, Idaho, to Herman and Mazie Baumeister. She was the third of six children: Two older brothers, Lee Baumeister of Bremerton, Wash., and Frank Baumeister of Reno Nev., two younger sisters, Ellen Watkins of Idleyld, Ore., Betty Graham of San Carlos, Mexico, and her late younger brother William Baumeister of Idleyld, Ore.
She married the love of her life, Martin Thomas Olson, on Aug. 6, 1960, in Roseburg, Ore. They were married for 37 years before his passing on April 30, 1997. To this union they had four children: Martina Olson, Elaine Kubitscheck, Tonia Tripp, and Montgomery Olson.
Anna was a hard worker with an outstanding work ethic. She worked for many restaurants as a cook. She retired from cooking after 22 years at the Hood River Care Center. She was loved and respected by the residents and her coworkers. She enjoyed needlepoint and many other crafts. Her favorite pastime was spending time laughing with her family. She had an amazing sense of humor. All who knew her loved her and her sense of humor and her ability to laugh and joke through adversity.
Anna is loved by and will be missed by her daughter, Martina Olson and son-in-law Steve Hamilton of Yachats, Ore., daughter Elaine and son-in-law Martin Kubitscheck of Hood River, daughter Tonia Tripp and son-in-law Dusty Rhodes of Odell, and son Montgomery and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Olson of Hood River. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christy and Melisa Tripp, Zachary King, Nicole Todd, Ian Buckland, Amanda Todd, Jacob Kubitscheck, Sadie and Brea Olson, Billy Broderick, Derek Tripp, Corben Olson and Brody Knight. Anna also had eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends who she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Baumeister, grandson Lucas King, and her husband Tom Olson.
An open potlatch and celebration of life will be held at The Hood River Eagles Lodge, 2290 Tucker Road, Hood River, on June 4 at 2 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River.
