Barbara “Bobbie” Ann Norton passed away Sept. 2, 2016, in Hood River, Ore. Bobbie was born June 27, 1933, and was 83 at the time of her passing.
Bobbie was born in Hood River to Joe and Neta (Camp) Moore. She was the first of four children, Joanne, Janet and Jim. She grew up in the Hood River Valley, graduated from Hood River High School, and in 1953 she married Gerald Chevron, who passed away. In 1980, she married Robert Norton. She was an active mother and homemaker, but also worked in the local packing houses. She was a gifted quilter who has made many quilts that will be cherished by her family, and also enjoyed camping and fishing. Bobbie was an active member of Hood River Valley Christian Church. She also helped at the Hood River County Fair, making sure all the entries were setup and displayed in the proper place.
Bobbie is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Norton; children Sherrie, Susan (and Larry) and Sally (and Mike); grandchildren Joyce, Tina, Shana, Cole, Sara, Taylor, Derek, Reed, and Austin; great grandchildren Blake, Grace and Tatum; and siblings Joanne Smith, Janet Willey and Jim Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband.
A private family graveside service was held at Idlewilde Cemetery on Monday, Sept. 5.
Memorials are encouraged to be made in Bobbie’s name to the Hood River Valley Christian Church.
