Robert (Bob) Tomlin of Parkdale, Ore., passed away on Jan. 21, 2017, in Beaverton, Ore. Bob was born on April 4, 1939, in Ecorse, Mich., to Donald and Laura (Latzek) Tomlin. The family moved to Oregon in 1947 and settled in Parkdale in 1951.
Bob graduated from Wy’east High School in 1957 and then served in the U.S. Army. When he returned from the Army, he was employed by Union Pacific Railroad. In November 1962, Bob married Margaret (Peggy) Olsen; they later divorced.
Bob spent over 30 years with Freightliner Corporation in Portland, serving many memorable years as the materials control manager at the truck manufacturing plant. After retirement, he spent time traveling and living in Vancouver, Wash., eventually returning to Parkdale. He could frequently be found playing his favorite video lottery game. It is rumored that over the years he won tens of dollars.
Bob was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by many who loved him: his partner Lynn Wojciechowski of Parkdale, daughters Jennifer Bunch (Michael) of Astoria, Ore., and Angela Tomlin of Hood River, granddaughter Rachel Caisse and great-grandson Marcus Marteeny, both of Astoria, sister Donna Colclesser (Robert) of Corbett, Ore., brothers Patrick Tomlin (Laura) of Parkdale and Dennis Tomlin (Tawnya) of Vancouver, and many nieces and nephews.
At his request, no funeral will be held and his ashes will be scattered on Mount Hood.
