Ralene Newbold Cooper, a resident of Hood River, Ore., returned to her Heavenly home on July 22. She was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Preston, Idaho, to Ezra and Dessie (McCarrel) Newbold. Ralene was 84 at the time of her passing.
Ralene moved with her family to Downey, Calif., when she was 13 years old where she finished junior high and high school. She continued her education in California and received her associates degree.
She moved to Albany, Ore., where she met her future husband, Al Cooper. They were married in the Oakland Temple Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (California) on Nov. 7, 1975, and they were blessed with a son, Delvon. They moved to Hood River soon thereafter.
Ralene loved children and taught primary for many years at the Hood River Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May Street. She also loved her church missionaries and took special care of them over the years.
Ralene loved her family and they loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Devlon in 1977, husband Al in 2008, four brothers and a sister. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Newbold, and lots of nieces and nephews.
Services are planned for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 29 at the Hood River Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1825 May St., Hood River. A viewing will precede Ralene’s service at 9 a.m.; graveside rites will follow her service at Idlewilde Cemetery in Hood River.
