James “Hershel” Kahoe passed away at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital on Aug. 13, 2018. Hershel was born July 28, 1934, and was 84 years old at the time of his passing.
Hershel was born in North Platte, Neb., and was the only child of James Glen and Muriel Stack Kahoe. He attended West Linn High School, served in the U.S. Navy for three years and later became an Oregon State Policeman, serving his community for 25 years.
He married Patricia Rae Williams on Oct. 11, 1958, in Hood River. The couple had three children, Terri, Mark and Traci. They were married for 57 years. Hershel was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, camping and bike riding.
Hershel is survived by his children, Terri Stewart (Bob), Mark Kahoe (Tammy) and Traci Lucas (David); 11 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Clarke; his wife, Patricia; and his parents.
A graveside service with military honors will be held will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday Aug. 19 at Idlewilde Cemetery, 980 Tucker Road, Hood River.
