Charles Victor Norman passed away at his home in Parkdale, Ore., on Dec. 9, 2018. Charles was born on March 25, 1931, in Clatskanie, Ore., and was 87 years of age at the time of his passing.
Charles was the first son of Victor Carl Norman and Sybil Wilcoxsen Norman. Charles had one brother, William, and two sisters, Norma (Norman) Larsen and Linda (Norman) Baily.
Charles graduated from Jewell High School in 1949 and then joined the Navy from March 2, 1951 to Feb. 25, 1955.
Charles graduated from Oregon Polytechnic in 1959, then went to work for the U.S. Forest Service as a district engineer from March 1963 to May 1994. After he retired, he worked for Air Borne Express, driving trucks, and later driving trucks and tractors for Steen McNerney.
Charles loved to go fishing with his buddies on the Deschutes River. In his earlier years, he did a lot of hunting.
Charles always raised a large garden, planting enough to share with relatives, friends and neighbors.
Charles is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy; daughter, Barbara (Norman) Hollenbeck; son, Roy Norman; stepdaughters, Lynn Monger and Sherry Nutter; and stepson, Mark Bowlin.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Sybil Norman; brother, William (Brub) and his wife, Jackie; and sons, Gary and Jon Norman.
He will be greatly missed.
