Barbara Joyce (Caldwell) Flowers was born in Stamping Ground, Ky., on Dec. 5, 1932, to Jesse M. Jackson and Emma H. (Dobson) Carter. She died on Jan. 14, 2018, at age 85.
Barbara, with her mother and three brothers, moved to Oregon from Kentucky in the late 1940s. In 1950, she met and married Dayne Caldwell (1926-2012). They were married for 25 years and had three daughters from this union, Penny Anderson, Jill Cannon and Tracy Crider.
Barbara began working for United Telephone (CenturyLink) in 1962 and retired 35 years later in 1997. In 1980, she met and married Dick Flowers; they were together 21 years, until his death in 2001.
She is survived by her daughters, Penny Anderson (Bruce), and Jill Cannon. Barbara leaves behind a legacy of eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, daughter Tracy Crider and her spouse, Dick Flowers.
