Ernie Snyder will be missed by all. Ernie passed away on Nov. 20, 2018, just seven days shy of his 86th birthday.
Ernie was born on Nov. 27, 1932, in North Umburn, Pa., to Verda and Henry J. Snyder. They had a large family. After his schooling, he enlisted in the Army with his younger brother. After Korea, he moved to California, where he started a family. He was a hard-working man and had several different jobs.
He decided to move to Oregon in 1970, where he started in the construction field and paving became his passion. He paved all throughout the Gorge. I’m sure there aren’t many people that haven’t heard of Ernie the Paver. Great job, Dad. Happy trails. Love you, from all of us.
A gathering will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. at the Hood River Eagles Lodge.
