Vernon Stuart Moore passed away on Aug. 31, 2018, at his daughter’s home in Klamath Falls, Ore. Vernon was born to Howard and Alda Moore on Feb. 6, 1940, in the home of his grandparents, Mildred Stuart Patch and David Patch in Arlington, Wash. His grandmother helped deliver him.
The Moore family moved to Hood River, Ore., in 1955 and Vernon graduated from Wy’east High School in 1958. He was a great basketball player, one of the best.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Alda Moore; his daughter, Annette Marie Moore; his niece, Rhonda Moilanen; his sisters, Ruth Wake and Dorothy Craig; nephew, Harold Knake Jr.; and brother-in-law, Harold Knake.
Vernon owned his own business, Eastern Oregon Sewing Company, for 45 years. His passions included hunting, fishing, watching football (the Patriots were his favorite team) and crabbing on the Oregon coast; and he loved to go to yard sales. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elena Macalintal Moore, of Lakeview, Ore.; his sister, Betty Knake, of Anacortes, Wash.; his brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Sally Moore and family, of Hood River; his two daughters, Kimberly Moore and Tammi Makeeff, both of Pasco, Wash.; his son, Troy Moore, of Lakeview; his daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Ray Ingram, of Klamath Falls; his granddaughter, Savannah Moore, of Kennewick, Wash.; his grandson, Kashton Adams, of Klamath Falls; and three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Reece and Sylas Jackson, of Kennewick.
Vernon has touched the hearts of so many in this community. He will be deeply missed and loved by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 12 N. G St., Lakeview, Ore., at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 29. A reception will follow the service at The Gathering Hall, next to the church.
