Steven “Steve” Ashbaugh passed away on Sept. 23, 2018, at his home in Portland, Ore., after a hard fight against pancreatic cancer.
Steven was born on Sept. 6, 1957, and was 61 years of age at the time of his passing.
Steve was born in Hood River to Ken and Dona (Sturm) Ashbaugh. He grew up in the Hood River Valley attending school at Mid Valley Elementary, Wy’east Middle and graduated from Hood River Valley High School, class of 1975.
After graduation, Steve worked for Diamond Fruit Company and Rosauers. He always loved driving truck and later he got his wish and drove truck for Oregon Wire, Rays Foods and Western Box Meats. He loved animals and enjoyed his cats and dogs. He enjoyed his time in the outdoors, either tending to his garden (he especially liked his roses) or just being outside hunting, fishing or camping.
Steve was a very generous, thoughtful and loving son, husband, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife of the last 13 years, Joyce Ashbaugh; parents, Ken and Dona Ashbaugh; sister, Kelly Ashbaugh Chausse (and her husband, Peter); two nieces, Kate Banick and Becki Anderson; several cousins and many friends he has collected over the years.
