Zan Lapp plays with plastic candy canes as she prepares to hang them on the Hood River County Library’s Christmas tree Tuesday during its “Charles Dickens Week” kickoff party. Wednesday the library held a family movie night, Thursday, a discussion of “A Christmas Carol,” and Saturday the celebration ends with “Mr. Fezziwig’s Holiday Ball,” 6:30-8:30 p.m., with food, live music and dancing. Come dressed as your favorite Dickens character and win one of two prizes (one adult and one child) for best costume. The CAST theater group will also perform a scene from its upcoming production of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol," which opens Dec.6.”
