The Powerdale Lands Corridor, pictured here looking north, was signed over to Hood River County and Columbia Land Trust Thursday. The 400-acre strip of land stakes along the Hood River from the former Powerdale Dam site to the former powerhouse just outside downtown. Transfer of the land was part of PacifiCorp’s decommissioning settlement agreement.

PacifiCorp gives 400 acres to two groups for future stewardship

PacifiCorp on Thursday signed over 400 acres of waterfront property lining the lower Hood River to Columbia Land Trust and Hood River County. The transfer has been several years in the works and closes another chapter in the long process of decommissioning Powerdale Dam, which was built in 1923 and removed in 2010.
