Zwickelmania!Dan Green (left) and Matt Stinson, both of Hood River, enjoy raw oysters and beer samples Saturday at Logsdon Organic Farmhouse Ales in the upper-mid valley as part of the annual Zwickelmania celebration. Zwickelmania was started in 2009 by the Oregon Brewers Guild as a free event where guests could tour Oregon craft breweries, meet the brewers, and of course, sample their wares. Zwickelmania is derived from the term “zwickel”: the name for the tap on the fermentation tank that is used to sample the beer. Other breweries in Hood River County also participated in the event including Full Sail, Double Mountain, and pFriem in Hood River, as well as Thunder Island Brewing Company in Cascade Locks. Joe Silliman, executive chef at Cooper Spur Mountain Inn and Resort, was responsible for shucking the oysters at Logsdon.
