HORIZON Christian School Principal Faith Kempf accepts a Lions Foundation grant to support the school’s robotics program, from Lions Jeff McCaw, center, and Tony White at the recent reception for Foundation grantees. Each year the Foundation distributes interest earnings from an anonymous $1 million gift made in 1999, providing for the needs of local non-profits. The grants were listed in the Dec. 12 Hood River News. The Horizon team took first at the regional qualifying tournament in the Gorge last week, advancing with other local teams to the Oregon State Tournaments on Jan. 9 or 10 in Hillsboro.

Gorge teams advance to State Robotics

Over 300 kids aged nine to 14 from schools all around the Gorge showed off their robotic talents the last two weekends as part of the international robotics competition known as First Lego League (FLL).
