The Horizon girls basketball team made school history Tuesday when the team won its first-ever post-season game in the history of the Hawks girls basketball program, which is currently in its 13th season. On Tuesday night, the girls defeated the South Wasco County Redsides 38-32 to head to the Big Sky district tournament, which is currently being held at Madras High School this weekend. The girls were scheduled to play Condon/Wheeler on Friday (results not available at press time) and then face either Arlington or Ione Saturday. The boys are also headed to the tourney, having defeated Condon/Wheeler, 53-32, on Wednesday. For coverage of the boys’ game, please turn to page A8. Above, the Hawks bench including Horizon Assistant Coach Kevin Dale (far right) explodes after a basket by Kaitlin Wenz gave the Hawks a double-digit lead over the Redsides.
