Photo detail

TREE IS UP: Lifting and tipping the tree into its stand requires a six-person team, but takes less than half an hour. Above, a crew massages the tree trunk into place after cutting the lowest branches, and adding metal shims for the screws to press against the trunk and straighten the tree (the city’s Robin Chambers, left, and Alan Wilm of Pacific Power). The tree was donated by Betz & Sons Construction, Inc., of Hood River.
