I am a non-affiliated voter. It is possible (and fundamentally healthy) that you and I voted differently, as I disagree with your characterization of the two major-party presidential candidates as equally terrible choices.
More importantly, though, I very strongly echo (see my own letter to the editor in today’s HRN) your sentiment that Americans need to stop thinking of each other as enemies because of their political views. Bitter divides in our society aggravate rather than solve dysfunction in our government.
Families and communities are the fabric of this country. Let’s keep them together, by respecting a variety of views and by expressing disagreements constructively.
