I guess that I am missing something. Coal comes from the ground ...water goes into the ground...water runs across coal....so, the Powder River Basin must be the most polluted place on Earth!!!
Just because we take the coal out of the ground I guess that means that it shouldn't go back in!!
I am not saying that I am in favor of burning coal in the NW, but that is another debate. We are just talking about shipping the coal for export here. And I happen to be affected by this issue work wise. Right now I am layed off after 27 years of welding.
If the Sierra Club and River Keepers would like to get all these railcars retrofitted with covers I guess that is fine with me...I will go back to work.
But I am still amazed that these people are trying to get the public to believe that Coal is not a natural substance that comes from the ground, and that it is killing us and our fish for it to fall on the ground!!
